Its human nature to judge people by their appearance, but we need to appreciate that we are all uniquely made and each one of us has distinct features that bring out our distinct beauty. Sadly, as we know, many of us are not content with our body features. Some feel insecure about the size and shape of their foreheads (very common among us Africans), noses or ears.
Once while going through You-tube video tutorials, I almost fell off my seat with laughter when I came across a video explaining how to use a 'Lip Suction Plumpe'r! At first, I thought it was some sort of a big joke, until I realised that there were even more tutorials on 'lip plumping' and those using it were quite serious about it, and even admitted to having hurt their lips as newbies, but excited to have finally gotten the gist of using the 'plumps' to achieve their fullest set of lips. (This taught me not to take my full African lips for granted 👄).
So what does one's facial structure have to do with hair?
For one, it's an important factor to consider when choosing a specific hairstyle, haircut or protective style.
Before spending a good amount of your precious time and money on a new hairstyle, haircut, weave or wig, think about this; will the hairstyle flatter or enhance my facial structure? Will it add more years to my face or make me look much younger? (hopefully).
Once you have an idea as to what structure of face you have, you will find it easier to choose the right makeup and hairdo that suits you and makes you feel comfortable.
Below are a few facial shapes and a chart that may act as a guide.
